Humanitarian Assistance Response Training (HART) Practice Exam

The Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) serves as a comprehensive platform that enhances coordination and the sharing of information among different entities involved in disaster response, including governments, NGOs, and humanitarian organizations. This system plays a critical role in ensuring that timely alerts are issued for both natural and man-made disasters, facilitating a swift and organized response.

While alerts regarding natural disasters are significant, GDACS does not limit its focus solely to these events; it encompasses a broader range of emergency situations. Furthermore, the platform is not exclusive to international NGOs, as it actively engages various disaster response actors by providing them with essential and timely information. This inclusive approach ensures that all relevant stakeholders can access and share critical data, which ultimately supports more effective disaster management and response efforts.

Thus, the option describing GDACS as a platform for sharing information among various disaster response actors accurately reflects its intended purpose and functionality within the global emergency management landscape.
